Fresh Comments
Lawrence Ebert has posted a new comment on the CHA item below. "Faye" has posted a comment on "hidden economic interests" on the "Fresh Comment" post from 3/20/07.
The post by Faye suggests that there might be "hidden economic interests" in New Jersey favoring work on ADULT stem cells over EMBRYONIC stem cells. Such a suggestion would not seem to be consistent with the known positions of Governor Corzine and Senator Codey, two of the most powerful politicians presently in New Jersey.
IPBiz had posted on May 4, 2006 a discussion of the grant procedure in New Jersey and a list of the successful grants. It is located at http://ipbiz.blogspot.com/2006/05/stem-cell-research-in-new-jersey.html
The grant to Rick Cohen for $299K to provide basic and advanced training in the field of human embryonic stem cell biology and to Ihor Lemischka of Princeton for $300K to understand human embryonic stem cell decisions and to Michael Shen for $300K for Role of the Nodal signaling pathway in regulation of embryonic pluripotency would all seem to be related to embryonic stem cells.
New Jersey has a problem not present in California, the current status of UMDNJ:
